微信号 Thats_Shanghai 功能介绍 Pulse of the City By Matthew Bossons As predicted, National Day traffic was horrendous and domestic tourists swarmed famous sites and landmarks like bees attacking a honey-starved bear.  Bad transportation and crowds are synonymous with Chinese holidays, particularly the two ‘Golden Weeks’ – Spring Festival and National Day. Last year, 532 million domestic trips were made during the October Golden Week, a 10 percent increase from the year before. As we previously reported, this year’s holiday, which began yesterday, is predicted to be the busiest on record – with over 55 percent of China’s population expected to travel.   Now, sit back and marvel with us at the madness that ensues when over 600 million people decided to vacation at the same time! Long lines at the Longmen Grottoes, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. If your idea of a holiday is waiting in line, then this is the place for you! Where’s Waldo?  No holiday is complete without a Buddha selfie. You know when you arrive at the beach and immediately realize that half a million other people had the exact same idea…  Hangzhou’s West Lake was packed yesterday, as you would expect. This train station, located in Guangzhou’s Panyu District, experienced larger than normal crowds. As did Shanghai's Oriental Pearl Radio & TV Tower... and The Bund. The mad (and slow) dash to escape Guangzhou… Driving 108 kilometers out of Beijing took a lengthy 6 hours yesterday, according to Tencent News.     According to Chinese media, over 600 people missed flights yesterday due to heavy traffic in Guangzhou’s Baiyun District.
